The three main functions of the Nahid Foundation
The three main functions of the Nahid Foundation:- To maintain a home for single women who no longer have a socio-economic safety network at their disposal: for example, they are widows, they are refugee women who have returned (without husbands), or they have been rejected by their husband's family.
- As well as the care of women and children, the Nahid Foundation in Kabul is also involved in promoting women's and children's rights in male-dominated Afghanistan. They do this together with other women's organisations and with the Ministry of Women's Affairs.
- In order for women to make full use of their rights, it is essential to provide conditions which enable them to lead independent lives. This means that they must be financially self-supporting. They must therefore be able to earn their own living.
