In order for the women's home in Kabul to continue, money is needed. This is not only needed for the monthly rent of the building, and for the expenses of the women in our care. Money is also needed for the salaries of the various staff _ from security personnel to the manageress_ who ensure the smooth running of the home.In 2009 we received half the money needed from large donator organisations. Unfortunately this is being phased out due to a change in the donator system in the Netherlands. We must therefore find additional funding ourselves. Up to now this has been very successful . Several women's organisations have organised annual fund-raising activities and a school has organised a Christmas activity, from which the proceeds were donated to the home. There have also been collections in churches. We have also received contributions from several businesses.
Apart from the money needed for the women's home, we are also looking for funding for a building to house several small businesses, to be run as far as possible by women. We wish to start a bakery, a catering concern and a sewing workshop. We have even more plans. It is our intention that these businesses will completely finance the women's home so that funding from abroad will no longer be necessary.
